From time to time, high fashion designers have timidly dipped their toe into the Broadway world. Halston designed the costumes for 1977’s “The Act” at the request of his friend Liza Minnelli. Pierre Balmain worked on the 1980 musical “Happy New Year,” based on the play “Holiday.” Bob Mackie’s creations graced Carol Burnett in 1999’s “Moon Over Buffalo.” And Isaac Mizrahi took on the revival of “The Women” in 2002. But for the most part, there has been little interaction between the worlds of fashion and Broadway. Read more…
